Fear the Fight Wagon!

Like the look of the Gore Chariot? Wait until you see our Fight Wagon.

Driven by Gores and controlled by Orcs,  there is no doubt this Wagon will destroy anything that gets in its way.

orc-fight-wagon-colour-shot

These bizarre contraptions consist of a wheeled platform crammed full with clamoring Morax at the front, and pushed by two gores enclosed in an armoured compartment at the back. What this vehicle lacks in speed it more than makes up in sheer ‘chopping power’, as the Orcs riding it would put it.

Ruthless and powerful, the Fight Wagon brings fear to all who oppose it.

orc-fight-wagon-isolatedYou take up to six of each as a single Regiment, but even one on its own is still a force to be reckoned with!

Like what you see? If so, get in touch and let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

The Fight Wagon is released on the 29th June 2013 and is now available to pre-order both as an individual set or as part of two fantastic value Army Deals.

Physical Ability, not Dice

To celebrate the successful completion of the Deadzone Kickstarter, and reflect on the previous year of Mantic’s growth, the team went paintballing this weekend.

mantic-paintballing

Not used to resolving firefights with raw physicality we created a real life set of Deadzone counters.  Much to bemusement of staff and non-Mantic players.

And this is Chris, doing his absolute hardest to generate a Beserk counter (though from his expression you’d think it was a Constipated counter).

And finally, here’s Ronnie hoping a rampant display of chest hair would stop paintballs in much the same way as body armour.

This man gleefully shot his staff until the marshals escorted them to the dead zone.  (Question is, when you’re shot in Deadzone are you escorted to the paintball?)

Life in the Fast Lane

Orc players are in for a treat this month, with the release of the new Gore Chariot model!

orc-chariot-colour-shot

This war engine is as simple as it is brutal: a pair of snarling Gores pulling a very heavy and very spiky war-chariot, which carries a couple of big Orcs armed to the teeth and eager to get into battle. Their tactic is obvious: charge headlong towards the nearest enemy regiment. orc-chariot-isolated

Dances with Werewolves

Trolls aren’t the only big unit we have for Kings of War in June howl-ever.

We were over the moon when these figures came back in from our painter and we were itching to get them uploaded to the website…

werewolves-colour-shot

The dread curse of Lycanthropy turns its victims into huge wolf-man hybrids – their flesh nigh-invulnerable to most weapons, their fangs and claws razor-sharp. These children of the night move faster than the eye can see and fight with a ferocity and strength which far surpass their mortal victims.

That’s a 285-point regiment of pure nastiness, able to put out 18 attacks with Crushing Strength that hit on a 3+. Ow!werewolves-isolatedWhat do you think of the Werewolves? Will you be getting one? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

The Summer of War is here!

Over the course of the next three months we’re going to be introducing new Undead, Orc and Goblin units to the range PLUS we’ll be launching our Ogre and Human armies into the world!

We kickstart the Summer of Kings of War off with the Trolls…

trolls-colour-shot
Trolls are large, feral humanoids of dim wits and insatiable appetite – perfect allies for the armies of Goblins, which use them as shock troops. Trolls can regenerate almost any wound and only fire can truly destroy them, while their crude war-clubs smash through armour and crush bones with terrifying ease.

It’s amazing value for a full 230-point Regiment in an Orc or Goblin army. Also, don’t forget that as they’re a solid unit, they can be taken on their own as allies for any other Evil army!

Mantic’s June Events

We’ve got a load of events happening this month. The Mantic Pathfinders are running their Kings of War charity tournaments, and we’re kicking off the DreadBall Regional Heats.

20130511_112759

To help us find the UK’s top DreadBall player, we’ll be holding heats across the country over Summer, with the top players from each one being invited to a grand final at Tabletop Nation in November! It’s going to be an epic event, so make sure you get to one of the Regional Heats over the next couple of months. Details can be found on the Mantic website, but we’ve also put together a handy PDF that you can print out and pin up at your local gaming store!

Events Listing June 2013

The more popular these events are, the more of them we’ll run, so spread the word!

What an incredible journey!

Deadzone development began many, many months ago. We knew we wanted to create a skirmish game that combined simple but interesting game play, faction development, claustrophobic battlegrounds and great 3D scenery – and making it a fantastic example of all that the Warpath universe will become.

Slowly each piece of the jigsaw started to appear. Game play developed. The greens arrived from the sculptors, wonderful pieces of art landed in the dropbox. Then we received the gaming mat in the post. When the scenery tiles were delivered the office stopped to look. As each component arrived anticipation built.

rebs-versus-enforcers-colour-shot-v2

The Kickstarter began 38 days ago.

However, none of us were ready for what happened then!!

We had asked for a $50,000 goal, higher than our other Kickstarters because of the more complex tooling. We thought this might take a few days.

On the first day we got 1297 backers and the project was funded in 33 minutes!

Since then there have been around 37,395 comments in the main section, plus many more in all the updates, 1000′s of messages in the inbox, and 66 stretch goals. We have undertaken building 6 factions, with boosters, vehicles and characters, mercenaries, 2 core tile sets and 3 battle zones and game play that will allow PvP, solo play, multi-mat and multi-player plus a fantastic selection of scenarios – and of course hard plastic zombies.

You have told us you want us to make this game, and make it great. We will do everything in our power to make you a game and models that you will be proud of backing.

Thank you for showing us faith in us – you support is truly humbling. Together we will make Deadzone everything we all know it can be – and more!

Cheers,

Ronnie!

A Word on the Survey

The survey will be out in a couple of weeks when Amazon has finished finalising all of the payments.

And finally – a word from Jake!

I just wanted to say thanks to all the backers of this incredible campaign. Deadzone is off and running in spectacular fashion!

I’d also like to say a huge thanks to all those brave folk who stepped up and built themselves boards to try out the Alpha and Beta rules for themselves. There’s been loads of really useful feedback and the game is definitely stronger for all your efforts. If you’re interested in continuing to follow its development then be sure to subscribe to my blog at www.quirkworthy.com where I’ll be posting further updates over the coming weeks/months.

Thanks again.

Join the Rebellion!

Wow! The Deadzone Kickstarter campaign has been going full-throttle for the past few days, and today it’s really taken off! We’ve been knocking down Stretch Goals like crazy, and now we’re chasing one that’s already a firm fan favourite: The Rebs Faction Booster!

rebs-faction-booster

Once we hit $765,000 we’ll be able to produce this set, which will expand the Rebs faction with several new additions…

DZ Zee Scavengers_wip

First up, we’ve got the Zee Scavengers.  These pesky little clones were a big hit during the DreadBall Kickstarter campaign, so it was only a matter of time before they found their way into Deadzone. They’re looters, scroungers and saboteurs extraordinaire, I for one can’t wait to see them in model form!

The Kraaw are are the Rebs’ shock troops, striking from the sky to sow disarray across enemy lines.  The Kraaw’s been available as an add-on for a while, but we’ve added one to this booster for the sake of completeness.

Rebs Judwan Medic

Earlier in the campaign we saw Wrath, the psychotic Judwan assassin; from the look on this Medic’s face, he doesn’t much like the idea of one of his race straying from the pacifist path of Mu’Shen’Wan!

Rebs RPG Team

The missile team is our first look at the Sphyr, a semi-aquatic race who pledged their finest warriors to the Rebellion after their home planet was used for weapons testing by the AccuTek Corporation.

The Rebs are growing ridiculously popular with fans of Deadzone, Warpath, and just sci-fi in general. If you want to see these models make it to the gaming table, you need to act fast – the Kickstarter campaign ends at midnight (BST) this Sunday! That’s just over two days away at time of posting, so there really isn’t that long left! Head over to the Deadzone Kickstarter and pledge your support now!
